Wedding Invitation Postmarks Always In Demand!
Specially designed wedding invitation postmarks are a rare gift from a town named Columbia Gorge. They are issued by its post office every year. There is a great rush to get them as wedding couples want to affix this wedding invitation postmark on their wedding invitation cards. The small post office cannot cope with the rush. This year, Postmaster Lloyd Davis received help from an altogether different source, the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, to distribute these postmarks. These postmarks are offered once in a year, on May 15 by the post office.
Designed by Geri Canzler, a part-time postmaster, the latest version of the postmark shows two entwined hearts, along with words like Marriage Station and Bridal Veil inscribed on it. The villa, where postmarks were given, was designed by Portland architect Morris H Whitehouse. It was bought and given a facelift by the Franciscan Sisters in 1975.
Many couples visited the villa this year to put the postmark on their wedding cards. Their remarks about the postmark were overwhelming and a couple was very excited to affix the postmark on their wedding card, although it already had 'I love you' stamp on it. It shows the popularity of the postmark of Columbia Gorge.
According to a couple, named White and Brunker of Portland, who got engaged on Valentine's Day and planned to marry in June, the Bridal Veil postmark was like an icing on the cake. Wedding couples like to go all the way alone to mark their invitations with this very special postmark. They add a personal touch to an invitation or even to a wedding gown made of satin and marked with a Bridal Veil postmark. The Franciscan Sisters also actively participated to help people in their own way.
