Wedding Invitation Stamps — Love Glorified!
There has been a trend to issue wedding invitation stamps since 1973 to celebrate moments of joy and love. These love stamps are released by the United States Postal Service.
Recently a new wedding invitation stamp was issued by the United States Postal Service. The designer, Michael Osborne is a 1978 honors graduate of Arts Center College of Design, and has been associated with the Academy of Art College and the University of California at Berkeley as a faculty member and a specialist orator on the topic of design. The first ever love stamp was in the denomination of 8 cents and an iconic design by Pop artist Robert Indiana. This custom has been going on with a vast range of titles like flowers, animals, cherubs, love letters as well as abstract designs.
The design of the 2004 love stamp as a wedding invitation stamp, describes two hearts – one yellow in the front view and the second pink in color a little behind the yellow heart. The letters “I love you” added like “I” in red color, symbol of heart on yellow candy and the word “you” on pink candy. Osborne has earlier also illustrated two colorful love stamps for the year 2002. Stamps' design features stylish block letters in addition to a heart-design “V” spelling the word “Love.”
Osborne's love stamps are in demand for wedding invitations. This love stamp is printed in two denominations of 37-cents and 60-cents each. A marriage invitation requires a postal stamp of 60-cent and this stamp is reserved solely for wedding invitation purpose. Its sales have been second only to Christmas stamps. Almost 1.2 billion love stamps are printed at a time by the United States Postal Service.
